[URGENT] [ML350] Starting issues [Unique / Interesting?]
ML350 2010 Model . First Hand . Dubai .
The car does not turn on now and den .
Its a no crank , no start issue .
The car has like a 75~80%+ chance to turn on in the morning after cooling down ( summers in dubai are ***** , makes you go suicidal)
Usually i would switch cars in the morning , if it does not turn on for more den 15 minutes of me turning the key clockwise .
Somedays ive been stuck trying to start car outside during the afternoon ( when the car is parked outside in the open , and gets grilled by the sun )
i would spend about 30 mins trying to turn it on , sometimes it would turn on , and rarely even right off the bat , but mostly id have to get another transport home )
Side problem : Despite these issues , ive been using the car (sparingly ) over last three months . Now and den my gears wont change , When i start the car , i reverse out and trying to change to D wont do anything , so i would have to put it on P (with the button ) and turn off car and start again after which it would function properly.
I have taken it to a repair shop once , they gave me a quotation for nearly 18k AED , or 5K USD. The car's value is like 50K AED max.
Their report read :
PARTS NEEDED:
KEY IGNITION SWITCH 1
STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR 1
KEY PROGRAMMING
2ND STEP:
ISM MODULE
I do not trust the the Auto-Workshop i took the car to ( MB Authorized) , the way they treated me or my car . When they sent me the quotation for nearly 5000 usd , it felt like they were trying to straight out replace anything that remotely has anything to do with the car "start-up" and rip me off with a huge bill.
....
Due to various reasons ( frequent travel outside the country ) i could not take it to other repair shops ( going to now )
I would like to get advice on how to proceed from this point onwards. It was my first car , but i cant be bothered to spend a ton of money on it ( when it looks like i might quit this country any day now)

You may have already seen this post regarding a similar problem:

Be sure to read from the beginning.
My fix (posts 39, 40) did not require any soldering, only a bit of cleaning. You may want to try that fix and see if it helps.
