Using different tire size (ML350 4MATIC 2009)
Tire size indicated on driver' door B-Pillar for Mercedes Benz W164 is 255/50 R19, but currently tires on my car is 255/55 R19 (5mm more difference on tire height). As far as i know, more aspect ratio means more confort on rough roads, but wrong tire size will affect more fuel consumption and gradually will damage internal parts. Question here is, what problems i may face with this 5mm more aspect ratio on the tire. Should i replace as per manufacturing recommended size or buy again 55mm on order to ride the car confort ?

I know that this is a very old posting, but I've modified a lot of different vehicles and I know that the 55 ratio would make your tires about an inch taller (adding 1/2" ground clearance). Because you weren't messing with offsets, I can't imagine that these would have caused any problems with geometry or wearing on components. Did they scrub when the steering wheel was at full lock in either direction?
What did you wind up deciding to do?
I'm asking because I've purchased a 2008 ML320 CDI with mismatched tires, a cardinal sin with an AWD vehicle! Even the fresher tires have wear, so I'm looking to buy a new set. Currently it has 255/50R19 (stock, I know). We drive on rough Indiana backroads and sometimes the potholes on the major roads are pretty extreme, too! A little more sidewall would be smart. I was thinking that a more aggressive set of all-terrains would be nice, too.
