Roof bar key
Roof bar key needed.
Have had my ML500 164 for 2 months now and loving it. The car has MB roof bars but no keys to remove them. Don't want to break them off and can't see a key number on them. Need help?

Thx but no thx
I'm asking here because its a place to ask questions. Thanks for the confidence booster! Yes, I have tried the MB dealer and yes, I have tried a locksmith, so this is why I am asking here.

A lock with no key is the same worldwide. Either you find the key, go to the manufacturer or to a locksmith, or you break the lock.

Hahah.
Dont be be too offended by flyboy. Someone must have hurt him and he likes to take it out on “new” forum members.
The crossbars are made by thule, but they'll refer you to mb once you tell them it is mb branded.
If you're lucky you might be able to find a lock cylinder # on the lock core. If you do find this number you can take it to the mb dealer and they can order you a new key off of this number.
Or you can buy new locking cores from thule or amazon and see if the master key will remove your core.
Sorry about feeling disheartened by the response you got. It's really not what these forums are meant for; I hope you are able to figure it out and please do let us know how it turns out!
Thanks!

Every forum like this one has at least one goody-2-shoes PC parrot who likes to strut around adding zero value by repeating what was already said, in response to threads like this one, where someone asks for a third opinion on what to do about a cheap lock for which they lost the key... You go, kombiboi.

This will probably be considered a Theft Relevant Part, so present yourself at any dealer with the proper documents and they will obtain a key from Thule or give you the the key code number. Please read para. 2A of the below document.
