AC compressor Pulley on 2006 ML500

Hi there,
Due to misaligned v belt, the AC pulley broke off. I can get a pulley, but just wondering if it can be replaced without removing the compressor, which is a major undertaking.
If it can, would I need a special tool.
Thanks,

If the pulley broke off, then the hub, which is before the pulley, was also damaged/missing.

My opinion is the compressor must be removed.

Plastic Cap on Guide Pulley

As I had to replace the guide pulley as well, just noticed that on one of the references it is noted that the plastic cover should not be reinstalled. Does it mean that it has to be left out or replaced with a new one.
Please clarify.
Thanks,

The cap is a dust cover and must be installed.

Major, I need further help.
Please see attached photos of what has been left of the pulley and the hub; nothing much!
I managed to pull out the snap spring.
I need help on how to remove the remainder of what is there. The center bolt supposed to be a 7mm bolt, but it is square.

Thanks,
Look at the highlighted AR13.20 WIS repair for W164. When you open that, you will see the non cap replacement is only restricted for 272 & 273 engines. Your veh. is a 113 eng.

You must buy a new compressor. Your old one cannot be repaired. Only the pulley is replaceable.

Amazon Amazon

Also, you had better fix that oil leak, wherever it is, before more damage is done, especially the new compressor.

Thanks Major.
Do you see more than pulley and hub being damaged. I only have to thank the mechanic who replaced the v belt misaligned.
Would you please let me have the replacement procedure for the compressor.
Thanks again

Boy, you are working me to death. While the belt is off, manually spin the guide pulley and the tensioner pulley. If either spins freely, it must be replaced.

Hi Major,
Hope you don't mind me asking this last question on this. Would you please explain item 13 on the R&I instruction as highlighted on the attached. Talking about draining off the engine oil!
Thanks,

First of all, whenever you are reading these WIS documents, you must disregard those steps which are GRAYED out. Those which are RED apply to your eng. or model.

Secondly, M/B makes many mistakes in these docs. What they are referring to is an Eng. Oil & Filter change. What they meant to say is drain off the compressor oil into a suitable container.
