Stalling when shifting to Drive or Reverse when cold...
Hi, all!
I have a 2006 ML500 with... 198k on it. The transmission shifts beautifully when warm and doesn't slip or have any other problems. However, now that the temperature has dropped down into the low 20s, when first shifting from Park to either Drive or Reverse, the engine bogs down and stalls. Also, there is some 'flare' during the very first shift from 2nd to 3rd, but there is no other slipping, banging, or shuddering. Any subsequent shifts are nice and smooth and normal. Once the car is warm, or the morning ambient temperature is above 45 degrees, or so, the engine doesn't stall. I had the fluid and filter changed at about 160k and the condition of the fluid was good at that time.
Thanks, in advance, for your help.
