2011 ML550 95,490 miles TRANSMISSION SHUDDER

Hey i’m new to MBWorld and i’ve own this MB for about 1 year and 2 months now it really never gave me problems till now. It was really taken care of and was up to day on every service until i left New York for about 5 months. I came back and came to a boat load of problems. It takes a couple seconds to start when you switch the key on and power steering is a bit heavy. but that’s the LEAST of my concern. I was driving yesterday and i was going into a turn around 20 mph and i shifted down to 1st and hit the pedal to the floorboard. The car jolted really really hard but it didn’t go no where it didn’t accelerate whatsoever. The conditions weather wise was rainy but that shouldn’t affect the acceleration. Any knowledge to what it can be ?

Why did you shift down to first and hit the pedal?

The possibilities are transmission, transfer case or front or rear axle.

Get this scanner and read the codes in all modules.

Having once twisted a u-joint off a drive shaft after popping the clutch with the brake pedal depressed in a frantic attempt to jump out of the car to prevent a wayward shopping cart from smashing into my beloved 1971 Volvo 142, and given you did something similar by dropping into 1st the way you did, I'd look to the u-joints and flex disc ...

Shifting down to first...never a good idea. Even when driving a manual you never shift down to first.
