Do you mean the switch on the driver's door?
You need this pry tool to get the plastic rivets off the door.

My 08 had similar problem, progressively it got worse to the point where key nor door switch would open the hatch.
I had to crawl inside and release the manual switch and push it manually to open.
My solution was replacing Lift Gate Lock Actuator Assembly, after replacement everything works fine.
If you decide to replace make sure you get genuine MB part, I had to return my order from Amazon because it was making clicking noise even after door was closed.
