w164 don't start
From time to time my w164 320 cdi do not crank. No other symthom, no alarms, signals, bips. All the others stuff work, even gear box change from P to N or R or D.
There is no errors scanning the OBD2 and Battery is OK.
Then after a while or in worst cases after a couple of hours she crancks with any other action.
Any clue will be welcomed

The scanning has already been done by my independent and usual garaje, in fact mercedes specialist, with no errors, neither recent nor historic.
lurking deeper in this forum I've read some issues related with a thingy called EIS, but I'm not sure if my synthoms do fit with it.
Any hint, troubleshoting guide,etc... to check if the problem is related whit this EIS thing ?
Thanks
Anyway I'm going to get my personal scanner

jesus, I am not pushing the Autel scanner I suggested, but I own one and assure you that it will read codes in all the 25 or so modules in your vehicle. Others will read codes in some but not all.
The EIS problem concerns the ignition switch where you insert the key. Some members have taken it apart and found that solder joints have separated and re-soldered the connection. This may or may not be your problem. This is where the scanner comes in.

Hi,
In case it were useful for you: In my rig a EIS replacement were needed. Some DiY tricks in the web shows how to fix the usual soldering problems of the EIS circuits board.
After a few months the main key failed, New one and reprograming it was needed. AFAIK there is a limit of crankings for every key. Newer model show an alarm previously to expiration, not in my truck. A personal option is the get a new official one or and OEM with expert programing.
Hope it helps
