Upgraded light bulb
Hi, I am debating which bulb to go with and would appreciate if someone have any suggestions.
OEM +100% Philips XtremeVision

I would like the bulb last long but knowing these bulbs don't last as long as OEM standard bulbs. thank you!

I would say go for the hid kit from Azn optics on this forum. They're very popular and very active here.
The hid kit will make a night and day difference in light performance. The kit is plug and play so easy to install. I also think it is around 100$. Lasts beter part of a decade.
If you have to stick with halogens, go for the Philips xtremevision 130.

My halogen GL with +100% Phillips H7 has better high beam lighting than my factory HID CL.
Theyve been in for a while so I can’t recall, but I think my low beams are +60% versions and that lighting is equivalent.
Best to work within the design imho. The upgrade H7s are worthwhile ... just don’t get them at PepBoys.

I couldnt live without hid. Even my 2000 ml55 has great hid performance. I’ve driven the stock halogen on loaner ml/gle. They suck.
The gl with hid lighting and especially the Philips XtremeVision hid are amazing. So much light.
That said. I really would go for the hid retrofit kit. Lots of owners do.

The Hella halogen E55 projector adapts quite well to a HID. I run a 55w H7 HID kit in my 04 W211. It's a huge improvement, producing a very sharp cut off. I never get flashed from on coming traffic.

Is this easy to install? Do you have to drill a hole to the headlight cover?

Ease of install will depend on comfort level of the individual.. but it's a common first DIY project. Yes, cut the dust cover to feed the wire through to the ballast. The wire has a rubber grommet to seal it back up clean. If you don't want to cut the dust cover or have a lease, many just tape off the opening or leave the cover off entirely since it's already fairly restrictive in there.
