Does engine om642 diesel has Vanos ? and what is venus
My car ML350 bluetec , it start makes noise these days , some of mechanics says it's timing chain and others says vanos
Can any one explain to me what is vanos

This is answered in your other thread ... no, Mercedes does not have vanos (proper spelling). It’s a BMW term describing its variable valve timing system.

OM642 engines do have variable camshaft adjustment/timing...... as does the M272, M273, M278, M276, M156, M157 and so on. So, it's not called Vanos, but it's there.
