Water Leaks

I'm currently fixing up a 2008 ml320 cdi with 60,000miles on it. I bought another 2008 ml320 for parts, this one has water damage caused by leaks that took out the rear SAM module and ecu in the compartment under the drivers seat. I have noticed signs of water coming in on both vehicles in the same spot. It appears that the rear bumper bolts leak and allow water to pool inside the quarter panel. At high speeds in wet weather I believe the rear bumper cavity becomes pressurized and forces water past these bumper bolts. I will be sealing these and reinstall them.

Im not sure of the cause of the leak under the drivers seat or any other problem areas I should seal up, please let me know what I should look for.

I made a youtube video about the leaks. https://youtu.be/k3DSe9wxIVY

Water entry that damages the rear SAM and the automatic tailgate pump and its module is due to faulty tail light seals. The tail light seals were glued to the lamp which was incorrect.

Buy new seals from the dealer and glue them to the tail light body opening and that will take care of the problem.

Also, make sure you remove the spare tire, tool kit and the gray mat to see if there is or has been water entry.

Thanks for the tip on the tail lights seals. I will water test them soon and see if they are the cause of my leaks, going to sit in the truck while someone sprays them with a garden hose.
