ABS light came on while driving

1995 sl320 and 2011 ml350
ABS light came on while driving
While driving my 2011 ML350, the ABS light came on. Stopped the car for about an hour and when I started the car again, the ABS light was still on, but went off after driving a while. I was able to get home without the ABS light coming back on.
Does anybody know what happened here? Is this something needs to be addressed immediately since it deals with brakes? Please advise.

Thanks for your reply, Maj. Dundee. I do have a follow up question on this issue since the ABS light didn't come on again. Does it mean the problem was temporary or it fixed by itself? I was reading the owner's manual about the problems and it tells there some of the causes and solutions. One of the causes is about drop in voltage and you need to check the battery or alternator. It may also cut off your radio or navigation system if this happens. But it didn't happen to my car when the ABS light came on. I did what seems the easy solution listed and that's to drive the car and when it gets a little over 12 mph, make the car swivels. It did make the ABS light went off, but I don't know if it's a permanent fix. I'll try to get that code scanner.
