Power Steering Pump compatible with Speed sensitive sensor
Hi There,
How would I know if a new power steering pump that I'm going to purchase is compatible with the speed sensor. What happens if I install a pump that is not compatible with this feature.
Thanks,

I don't believe the dealer. The pump only has one function and that is to pump fluid.
Are you yourself going to replace the pump?

Thank you. My car is equipped with y10 sensor. How do I ensure that the pump is compatible with this feature. Apparently there are two types. I'm buying from Amazon.

Here is the part number.
Before you buy this part, understand that the pump is very simplistic, it just pumps fluid and the only time it should be replaced is when the pulley fails.
It has nothing to do with the problem you are having. Your problem is either with the reservoir or the Y10 valve.
Another warning is, non OE parts will not mate up properly with after market ones, e.g., aftermarket pump to OE reservoir and vice versa. And a special bleeding procedure is required after replacing any part in the PS system.
For your financial sake, please think this over.

The reservoir is OE and replaced recently because it was leaking. Replacing Y10 is hell of a job apparently. Is it a DIY job? And what a sign of a sailed pulley?

The sign is if it wobbles.
No it is not difficult to replace the SPS Valve. But it might not be the problem.
Is or was the ESP light on at any time?
While turning the steering wheel under any condition, is there a groaning sound or any other sound?
How long ago did you replace the reservoir and did you have this problem before the replacement?
Did you read the procedure for draining and refill of the reservoir and did you follow that procedure or you didn't know there was a procedure?
Do you have a scanner to check for codes in the ESP control module?
Copy and paste my questions and answer alongside them.

While turning the steering wheel under any condition, is there a groaning sound or any other sound? No noise at all; just hard to turn
How long ago did you replace the reservoir and did you have this problem before the replacement? 2 weeks ago; and, yes
Did you read the procedure for draining and refill of the reservoir and did you follow that procedure or you didn't know there was a procedure? It was replaced by the dealership 2 weeks ago. Last year I replaced the reservoir myself following the procedure, still no effect
Do you have a scanner to check for codes in the ESP control module? I do. Scanner has no code. Dealer ran their special code reader, star I believe, and reported no code at all.

This is a tough call to make. If you want to replace the pump, you must be sure that it is an OE one and not an aftermarket one.
And if you replace the pump the front wheels must be raised off the ground and the steering wheel must be turned from lock to lock until all the bubbles in the reservoir are gone
