Brake sensor / pads

My brake sensor alert came on (rear brakes)
In general, from experience, can I wait a week or so before having my brake pads replaced? Or is this an immediate 'emergency' kind of warning.

Looking at the pads, there does seem to be plenty of brake pad material left, but I can see the sensor was just triggered. Do I have 10 miles? or 1000 miles before bad things happen?

Thanks

If you say that it has enough pad thickness, then it is good for a week.

Thanks. Sensor came on over last weekend and I will change the pads this upcoming weekend after the parts come in. I didn't know if I had time on my side or not.
Car is a daily driver - 30 - 50 miles per day on average. I'm surprised the rear pads are showing greater wear than the front. They are wearing evenly (both rear tires) and braking is excellent.

If you are easy on the brakes the rears on these trucks will wear sooner than the fronts.

On mine I got 32,000 miles on the rears - the fronts have 85,000 miles and still have about 3mm left.

That makes a lot of sense. We are easy on the brakes, so the fronts never have to do "heavy lifting". I am at 40,000 miles. Front's look like they have half their life left. Backs...well, sensor went off and when I looked, not so much left.
