SEEKING ADVICE: Which Warranty for 2011 ML63?
Hello,
first time posting on MBWorld from Arizona.
I am looking at a 2011 ML63 with ~87k Miles.
I was given some powertrain warranty options:
2 yr/24000 miles: ~$3200
3 yr/36000 miles: ~$4100
5 yr/75000 miles: ~$6900
The car is listed for ~$22.8k. The powertrain warranty covers the engine, the transmission, sealants, and gaskets.
Do you have a suggestion for which warranty period makes more sense? Also, is the warranty worth it at all?
Thank you,
David.

Most people I talk to discourage extended warranties.
With that being said I got one from Carshield for my 09 ML350 that costs somewhere around $125 a month, and is good for up to 300,000 miles. I can cancel any time. It covers engine and transmission, but also things like lift gates, lock actuators, and wheel bearings. I have used it for my lift gate, but that’s about it. I certainly haven’t gotten my money’s worth over the last 2 years I’ve had it. I suppose I keep it for peace of mind. It will only cover repairs up to the value of the vehicle. I don’t know how yours works but just something to think about since an ML63 engine is probably over $20K lol. I’ve debated cancelling from time to time- I just don’t ever notice the charge on my card and never think about it.

Thank you for the feedback.
Thank you for the insight.
Yes, the warranty offered will cover the engine transmission and the seals and gaskets.
Your experience does sound like the warranty is paying off often. This makes me think...maybe I won't get it.
Thanks again,
David.
