08 ML63AMG Alternator Question
HI, got a 08 ML63AMG i think i would like to replace the alternator, car with 102K miles and its little noisy. What is the best way to get it out of there through the bottom or the top? i see bottom under the engine got lines in the way, very tight squeeze. Please help, thanks
Or maybe ill try to get new voltage regulator and bearings to restore my old one. Found a new Bosch voltage regulator on FCP for $32.75 but i cant find Bosch bearing kit. Anyone knows where i can get Bosch bearings, for my Alternator, Or at least Bosch part # for bearings, Thanks

WIS says to remove the alternator from the bottom.
Remove upper engine cover
Remove air intake ducts
Remove lower (underside) engine cover
Remove poly-v belt
Drain coolant from radiator
Remove bottom radiator hose
Disconnect oil heat exchanger oil line
Remove electrical connections from alternator
Remove 4 bolts holding alternator to engine
Remove alternator from below

First of all thank you guys for quick replies!!
Read the directions, sounded like a hell of a big job by WIS. disconnecting hoses, with rusted bolts and straps, draining coolant. So i layed under the car for good 15 min looking around and looking and thinking. Then i came up with a genius idea! I took the auxiliary fan of, took 10 min, unbolted the Alternator, took the plug off and took the wire on the back off and yes i took ground off on the battery before i did anything. Alternator slipped out so easy!!
SoI think if anyone gonna replace the Alternator, that is the best way!!! Dealer does it the way you guys said just to make more $$$ .
BTW anyone knows how to crack the Alternator open? All bolts are unscrewed, tried to get it to separate in half, tapped with a hammer with 2X4 not to damage, priyed with screwdrivers, it moves a bit but it goes back. Sprayed wd40 to sit overnight will try tomorrow again. anyone have a hint where to start to get it going?
Got voltage regulator on the way and ordered new bearings.
Thank you again for the help!
