ATF change interval
There seems to be some controversy regarding the interval. Can anyone confirm which is correct:
- ATF is changed once after 39 kmiles / 60 kkm, after which it is a 'lifetime fill'
- ATF is changed every 39 kmiles / 60 kkm
- ATF is changed once after 39 kmiles / 60 kkm, after which it is a 'lifetime fill'
- ATF is changed every 39 kmiles / 60 kkm

Service manual specifies one change at 40,000 miles. At 150,000 miles you are to check the fluid levels.
I don't buy it and had it changed again at 80,000 along with transfer case.

This place is a joke.
I agree, MB says one time change at 40k miles but I'd suggest every 40k. My 722.6 (5 spd.) has 153k on it, fluid changed every 40k and last time checked the fluid was clear and the pan was super clean. Still going strong with 505 horsepower to the rear wheels. My wife's 164 ML350 (722.9 7 spd.) will also get changed again when it hits 80k.
