2013 ML350 4Matic broken center console lever passenger side, no more spring in latch
I HAVE A 2013 ML350 4MATIC WITH A CENTER CONSOLE DOOR LATCH NOT WORKING, WONT HOLD CONSOLE DOOR SHUT!
When lifting the triangle release lever it pops both split doors open. There are two black latches in the framing of the center console that click/lock the doors back down.
The problem I have is the passenger side door latch fell inside the console. NIGHTMARE!
So this is how far I got so far...
I removed all the screws needed to remove the center console without cracking anything.
When doing that I realized that I am unable to get to work in the area needed to repair the latch or see why the latch is not working on the right side.
I really need to remove just the top portion of the console. Meaning the soft grey cloth area, the 2 split door area and radio spin wheel control. Removing the entire center console resolved nothing as I am unable to get my hands on the latch area. I'm hoping someone took on this same project and has some tips for me.
I've yet to crack anything which is a miracle.
Thx for any help!
Anthony

MBWorld Fanatic!
Do you know that you are on the wrong forum?
In one sentence tell me what you want to remove, post a photo.

I want to remove the armrest assembly from the rest of the center console.
The instruction photos you posted to help a different person does not show how to remove the rear vents/storage compartment. You cannot remove the armrest box from the center console unless the rear seat vent/storage compartment with cigarette lighter charger is removed. I already ripped out the entire console which was useless as I’m trying to fix the passenger side armrest door latch black button lever which holds the armrest down.
my apologies, 1 sentence wasn’t enough. Didn’t realize I was in the wrong forum category either.
Thx for helping others and myself 👍
I can submit photo later, wife has the ml350

Ah, just noticed, I have the W166. You are correct, wrong forum.
So I removed the 2 corner screws at the very bottom of the rear vent panel near the charging outlet, cig. lighter. When pushing open the ashtray door I removed the ashtray inside. There are no screws in pocket where the rear vent ashtray sits.
There are corner screws at the base storage compartment is below the ashtray area.
Important note: I tried pulling the top part of the vent area away from the armrest box and 2 clips started to pop out but the rear panel did not move. I used all my strength to try to remove the rear black plastic vent panel and it will NOT move. I looked into the vents to see if there are hidden screws in the vents and there aren't any.
In addition, I removed the entire console thinking I would easily figure out how to disconnect the armrest box from the rest of the console but no dice. This thing is not coming off. I removed all 6 screws under the rubber mat inside the armrest box, disconnected the wire harnesses where you would plug in a usb or a M.B. technology harness for bull**** charging or whatever.
I know I'm missing something but one thing for sure, the rear vent/ashtray/storage panel has to come off for the armrest assembly box to come free.
Your illustration photos are great however i have no way of getting to screws to allow the rear console to lay flat towards the rear seats to disconnect the electrical connectors....
Thx again! Any help would be awesome!
