Cold Start problem

Cold Start problem

07 ML350, have a cold start problem that causes check engine light to come on and trouble code of misfire. Replaced intake manifold, spark plugs, coils, secondary air pump blower, vacuum lines and air filters. Cleaned throttle body and map sensor.
Just don’t know what else to do. Shortly after it starts I shut it off, wait a minute start again and then it works as it should. Very strange but would like to fix that weird misfire fault.

What is the mileage on the odometer?

Usually this problem refers to the fuel filter under the left rear seat. It has probably reached its filtering capacity (155,000 miles) and should be replaced but only after the codes are read.

Try this procedure on the next cold start: turn the key to pos. #2, wait 20 sec. and turn the key to start.

Thank you for your suggested answer, I will definite look into it. Yes, it has 156,000 miles, so maybe it's getting to it's limit.

I did as you suggested and it started way much better. It hesitated a bit, just a few seconds, but it didn't turn the check engine light.
I'll start it like that for now on until I order the parts and replace it.

Hello Maj Dundee,
It's been about a week since I replaced both Filter and Pump assembly units, and also replace both vacuum lower & upper valves that goes to the secondary air pump. It's running way much better, but today unfortunately it started a bit rough again. According to the scanner it just says the same old code of misfire. I really just can't get it to work as it should. I think is time to trade it in, but after investing so much it's a pity.

When you replaced the pump and filter, did you also get new tightening ring nuts and torque them to specs? Read bottom of page.

The fuel tank is pressurized and if there is a vacuum leak that could be your problem.

What do you mean by this as there is no secondary air pump.............. also replace both vacuum lower & upper valves that goes to the secondary air pump.

Yes, I did installed new seals and torqued them to specs, even bought the special ring wrench to perform the job.
About the Secondary Air Pump, I don't think as said "no secondary air pump...", but was just letting you know that I replaced both valves (002-140-83-60 & 002-140-74-60) with new gaskets since I had them ordered. Just so you know and/or anyone who could help be aware of the components replaced already.
It's really frustrating after spending over $2k in parts (at least I'm doing the work myself) and still the same problem occurs.
Replaced: spark plugs, coils, 2dry Air Pump, all valves and vacuum hoses, Fuel Filter & Pump, Crankcase oil separator cover and breather, Alternator Voltage Regulator, New V-Belt, knock sensors, Intake Manifold, magnet sensors, air filters and oil change. To me all is left is the driver
