ML 350 Baterry Alternator Cable Serious Probelms
HI, Any Advice would be aprecciated.
Recemtly our ML 350 we bougth has this no charging battery problem. So a new alternator was installed, same problem.
Next new battery, new backup baterry also installed. Problems continues
A new alternator other brand because mechanic said that the other one because its not original didnt charge the battery.
Problem solve for a few days, everithing working, radio, A/C, etc. But later on all this stop woring due to lack of Voltage.
Panel read 12.3V max car runnig and should be 14V +. So even running the car the battery start to drain until the car panel start to turn off an on an eventually the car doesnt start because battery voltage get under 12V
New battery positive cable installed because of probable development of resistance, now it can more or less maintain the 12 V but not charging.
what else can I verify o can lead to this problem of no charging battery or supply 14V running to have everything working?
Please help Thanks a lot

A little confusing to read this. Are you sure you have the correct alternator installed?
I ask because there are a number of voltage regulator variants on this alternator frame, it's very easy to get a mismatched unit.
For example, some have LIN-buss control of charging, where the ECU tells the alternator "Thanks, charge is good enough take a break." when the ECU is satisfied with the voltage it reads.
This is mostly to save fuel, believe it or not. They will tell you it is to prevent overcharging / make the battery last longer.
There are I think 3 different amperage outputs available as well.
Many will tell you buy Only Bosch remanufactured.
OE was often Valeo, but may or may not still be commonly available.
Regardless, double/triple check you have the correct alternator for your application.
It sounds like you have one which fits, but isn't the correct one/isn't actually charging the battery up.

Ok I would check the alternator parameters and poste it here. I just go to Parts Shop and ask for alternator for Mercedes ML 350 2006 V6 and they let me know that they didnt had the BOSCH but another brand with same specifications I take it all like true.

Efrain, it rejected that vin# again and I don't know why.
After you replaced the main battery, what was the voltage reading?
What is the reading now?
Are you able to start the car?

When I first replace the alternator and new battery the cluster screen read 13.8 V car running , 12.3V car off. But days later its start dropping down until car doesnt start anymore.
I have a battery charger so Im able to recharge it and start the car but eventully drop down again.
Now its reading 12V its start after a few attemps but with in few minutes you get the red battery warning
IF I disconnect battery with the engine running it stay runnig but the cluster voltage reading start up and down crazy and weird shaking feelling on car

Why in god's name did you do this?
When you replaced the alternator did it come with the governor (#6) or did you have to swap it from old to new?

Also, the positive cable of the battery to alternator/Starter (its the same cable) the terminal that connects to the alternator is broken (missing half of it) Would this cause lack of voltage and charging the battery?

Absolutely.
Is there a Mercedes dealer in PR? There are two different part numbers for that cable but I cant tell you which one it is because your vin# gets rejected.

I really don't know if there is a Mercedes Dealer. I buy this car used a few months ago.
Is there any other info that I can provide you to determine the exact part needed?
