and read this article for cheaper versions of German approved brands in the subsidiary brands. See the photo screenshot. Interesting isn’t it?

if I’m not mistaken, merc is still putting these on their new vehicles.
As I am posting on the W164 forum, I am obviously referring to the ML. The Thread also reads "Best tires for the ML 4MATIC", so the Conti's went on my ML.
As I had mentioned, I never had bad luck with Michelins. For you stating that Michelins are a step down from the Conti's (after me just explaining that I have a major issue with this type of Continental tire), can only be your opinion, which you are entitled to.
If you just put an AMAZING set of Conti's on your truck, it might be helpful to know which model you installed.
Thanks for the heads up in regards to checking with my dealer and doing my research. In most cases I do my own research, as the dealer does not always have the latest and most accurate information, especially on a 13 year old model. The Michelin tire I have selected is recommended for the W164.

hey pal, your sarcasm is cheeky at best and duly noted. Just trying to help out, buddy.
I checked my and my wife’s ML63 AMG and they appear to be SportContact 6 also available too, in a different ML equivalent.
in the meantime I’ll drive my 991 911 Speedster, while the rest of the world gets on with their days. Good luck to you sir.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

you and I had very similar concerns with our tire choicice. I hope I was able to help is all. And if your in northwest Chicago suburbs your welcome to message me and I’ll show you what good tires will do for your car and maybe even let you drive the Porsche..... jk my wife is afraid of it. Won’t get no where near or in it. Once was enough

As a true German, immigrating from Germany at age 25 to CA, I should be Porsche WORTHY. No need to be scared of a fast car, as long as one knows how to drive, right?

You will let me drive this amazing Automobile built approx. 20 miles north from where I grew up, and I will buy you some good Beer afterwards! Of course, you would need to determine the location for GOOD Beer in your neck of the woods. CHEERS.

I love my German cars can’t convince me that there’s anyone that’s better made. I’ve seen them put them together I know the quality of the parts they make and the people in the integrity behind them

She used to sing "Oh Lord won't you buy me a Chevrolet", ..................... Until one night the Lord enlightened her and she changed the song! The rest is history!
good one yeah I don’t bring that up at the moment, sore subject in my house right now, apparently she wants a GMC Acadia what kind of SHIZZA Scheißkiste!, is that I said.
she doesn’t know it but I already put a down payment on a new one for a trade-in with the ML 550, for a GLE
I may need to crash atom someone’s couch for a while here any recommendations.
but I’ll keep that in mind. Curious, what’s wrong? I still think they need to put that 2 L four-cylinder that they have in the believe in CLAMG into the midsize and even I would say GLE maybe not GLS but that motor incredible

I put my set together for under $700 total, but whatever, a $1000 for a nice set with new decent tires like the Uniroyals or Kumho seems like a step in the right direction.
I fully expect an improvement in steering feel, ride, handling and a cushier ride, all from the reduced mass, and more narrow tread, thicker sidewall, etc etc....tires 1/2 the price of 20" with better selection is a bonus going forward; I'll toss on some 15mm spacers too.
Probably put my 20" set on ice until I sell the ML so I don't have to worry about putting $1000 tires on it to trade in or whatever.

she drives it very safe and I mean she just doesn’t want to push gas pedal past 1/10th it’s cavitation or depth.

- At Highway Speeds, the truck feels like it is “Swerving”, which gives a very uncomfortable feeling. (I need to take extra care and hold on to the wheel).
- The tires are also pretty loud, compared to what I am used to.
With that said, the Continentals will come off tomorrow and I am going back to Michelin. Hoping the MICHELIN PRIMACY TOUR A/S will provide a much better ride quality than these Conti's did.

MICHELIN PRIMACY TOUR A/S

Driving on the freeway will tell the real story.

Hard to disagree that they are spectacular; quiet and do everything I ask of them. I took a break from Pirelli since the 1990s, with sidewall bubbles being common. However, last Fall, I bought some P7s for a different car, which worked out great.
My most basic tire strategy is 2 sets of all-seasons; a good set for winter and a set of smokers for summer. Swap and adjust them for more or less duty, mainly that my good set doesn't see hot summer pavement, they get stored. It works great, I always have enough tread and never have to throw out half worn tires, I just use them for summer smokers.
In this case, I went to 18"s for my 2nd set, being unhappy with the vast selection of 17" and 18" wheels I already had, I bought some GL wheels that are perfect. For them I bought some Destination LE3, used like new for $265/set....a record breaking price for this forum 245/60-18. So, being my Pirellis are 20", I'll use the 18" Firestones for winter. Highway all season category is one step closer to a real truck tire, which is more durable and in this case, they handle great. If you read the reviews, Cayenne guys love them for the 3-4x longer wear than the street performance tires we are used to.
Anyway, that's the plan. I'm just getting used to my H&R spring set, and am sure that the 18" will be much welcomed by the late fall.

I'll link the LE2 instead of LE3s, since there's a lot of reviews and a staff test.

I have them on my Metris
