W 164 ml 550 FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS
Hello and thank you for your help in answering some questions I have about which might be the better brand of breaks to go with if I’m to replace the front pads and rotors on a 2008ML550 the W164.
what is original equipment brand?
where do you buy them from has anyone found a cheaper place I guess to buy them direct pads and rotors?
And generally speaking if I wanted to do the job myself and have some basic to intermediate car knowledge would I be able to do so and how much Time can I expect to do or take one side thanks.

Original equipment brand is Mercedes. See mbdirectparts.com
Note that when you replace rotors you must replace the screws that hold caliper carrier to hub with new ones ... so order those too.
You’re going to need a 9mm Allen driver socket ... Germans deliberately use odd sizes to discourage diyers.

OE is Textar or TRW. imo don't bother, there are too many awesome aftermarket pads out there. If you post some choices, you can get specific feedback.
I have the BOSCH Quietcast rotors now, they are nice, no rust. You want a "high carbon" rotor. See what AutoZone has. They sell Brembo and Brembo makes their house pads. My fav are EBC Ultimax 2, but there's lots of others....I go by price of my top 4-5 picks.
Let me know....
