Help choosing steering rack
Hi, Im new to the forums. Been looking around but cant find information on the following:
I want to replace my steering rack becasue is leaking (need to refil the reservoir weekly) and is making grinding noises. I've looking around and it seems that there are two options of steering racks: with and without speed steering sensitive sensor.
I would like to know how to check wich one I need since I owned an european model (2008 ML280) and whick brand should I get (I was thinking the Cardone was a good option).
Thanks in advance

Cardone would be the obvious way to go. Be happy they supply your rack, because any kind of OEM or dealer rack would cost more than the car is worth.
If you just want to treat the problem, ATF is thicker and has a slight seal swelling effect, especially hi miles atf. You would have to flush it over 100% completely, as CHF and ATF do not mix well. Just a thought, it might help until you are 100% ready to change the rack.
