My 2009 ml350 w164 Was in an accident where thereby deployment and I have read online that they shut down when they are in an accident with thereby deployment however mine ran for 2 more months and now it shut down and it won't even try to start. I'm hoping it's the same issue I had before which was an EIS / key issue, but is there a chance that it would run for 2 months after airbag deployment and then shut down because of that?
I don't wanna pay the dealer fees this for a diagnosis so I try to figure things out myself and appreciate any help you all can offer me
VWs shut down after airbag deployment - they can’t be started. Happened to me when I hit a deer head-on at 55mph in a 2010 Touareg. I assume MB and all cars are the same. One of many reasons is to avoid igniting potentially leaking fuel.

What prompts the question?
I was asking because I was in an accident with airbag deployment on December 15th and my 2009 on Mercedes ML350 Never stopped running and i drove a
it home and drove it for an additional 2 months and now it won't start and is unresponsive, I don't know whether it's the Ignition, the key or whether it's something to do with the airbag deployment
Yes.... I was in the serious accident a few months ago that probably would have been avoided if the car didn't shut down due to airbag deployment. I was on the freeway in the right hand lane of a three-lane highway. Car in the middle lane for no reason at all slammed on their brakes and swerved into my lane clipping the front end of my car. I did a 180 acrossed all three lanes and the back corner of my car hit the center median. Not a very serious crash but just hard enough that the side curtain airbags deployed. At this point the car would not start back up and I was now facing oncoming traffic. There was no traffic for almost a full minute. If the car would have been able to start back up it would have drove just fine and I could have pulled over to the other side of the road and avoided what came next. After almost a minute traffic came and I was unfortunately 70% in the left-hand lane and one car wasn't paying attention and hit me head-on it's 65 mph or more without touching their brakes. Luckily these cars are built like a tank. It was a 2004 e500 wagon. She hit me so hard it cracked the engine block. Car saved my life for sure. If I would have been in a smaller car I would not be able. That's why I replaced it with a 2008 ML63.
