Advice on diagnostics

Greetings all MB fans, I have been a MB owner since 2007 (2 sedans 4 ML's and 1 GLE). We recently moved to Mexico, and the colonial city I live in has very rough cobblestone roads. After 9 months relying on a driver and cabs, we took the step and purchased a 2008 ML 500 with 125K km (78K miles). Of course I brought an interpreter and did my best in test driving for all of the obvious issues. We do not plan on putting a lot of miles on this car although I am certain it will out live me. We wanted a comfortable ride or at least as comfortable as one could expect on rough cobblestone streets.

The vehicle has Airmatic and I can hear air leaking from the left rear after turning off the vehicle. I am having that serviced by a local brake shop as well as just having the brakes checked / replaced as the city has a lot of steep hills and braking can come in useful once in a while. The left rear air spring will be replaced this week.

There is a lot of groaning when we go over speed bumps and I when I return to the shop next week I will have them lubricate the front suspension components.

The digital display seems to be a bit funky, and Airmatic is displayed constantly. To get it to toggle I have to pull the cruise control stalk towards me and then I can scroll through the menus. Very odd..

Otherwise the engine seems to run great, plenty of power, runs smoothly, and the vehicle fulfills our needs quite nicely. There are plenty of these vehicles around the area so I don't think finding parts in a bone yard will be difficult.

So now for my questions:
1. I am looking for a reasonably priced diagnostic scanner that has the ability to be 2-way. From what I have read this is a nice feature as you can initiate functions and see how the vehicle responds in real time. Is that correct? Suggestions for a decent scanner? This will of course allow me to go to a local service center with knowledge rather than being at the mercy of their guessing. Maj Dundee the scanner you recently recommended was not available on Amazon and the manufacturer Autel.com has newer updated models so am open to suggestions. BTW this most likely will get used very little.
2. Is it possible that they odometer may have been reset? I didn't think that was possible, and it is my understanding that the scanner will read a different module from the engine to tell what exactly the mileage is on that module and engine - is this a correct assumption?
3. Keyless Go button is missing - is that button generic or is there a button specific to just my vehicle? Also doors do not unlock when I grab the handle or push the black button on the driver handle. will scanner help identify these issues as well?

I am hoping that the scanner will help identify the issues that are causing the odd digital display issues.

I also want to thank you all for your contributions to this forum..I have been checking in for over 10 years now...
