Question Ml320 CDI 2008 - aftermarket oil cooler upgrade?

Hey everyone, I'm a 17 yo kid with an ml320cdi from 08' (it has 232k km)

I have had an issue with my oil cooler seals leaking a lot recently (started to leak 2 years back) but now it's at the point where im losing almost 1/4 of my oil in about 2 weeks time

Mercedes has quoted me 5k to replace the seals - to that extent I was wondering if it would be possible/ worth it to just replace the oil cooler entirely with one from bulletproof diesel (for reference I an in Canada and it is currently -40c outside)

because a new cooler would run me about 3k and then I could get a shop to do the replacement?

what are your thoughts/suggestions?

Riced, please update your profile to include the year, model (is it GAS, CDI or Blue) and where you live. In your case you just have add the year and where you live.

If you have confirmed that the leak is indeed coming from the oil cooler seals, then replace it with the updated purple colored ones (around 15usd) . A complete cooler would not be necessary. An indy would charge significantly less to get the job done than at the dealer. Why spend 3k unless your cooler is damaged?
