2011 ML550 M273 E85 (Flex-Fuel)
I’m wondering if anybody has any information for an E85 conversion on the M273 engine. I was at the fuel station the other day filling up the ML at over $6/gal when I glanced across and saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee filling up with E85 at $2.49/gal and it got me to thinking about converting the ML to flex-fuel. I’ve been doing some research the last few weeks and have found plenty of conversion kits through FCPEURO and Victory Road Performance for the AMG engines, but I can’t seem to find anything for the M273’s. I’ve read some forums here about some M272’s being flex-fuel from the factory so I’m thinking there’s got to be something for the M273’s. Has anybody done this conversion and if so, what are your thoughts?
I know that E85 uses about 30% more fuel than 100% gasoline, but with this large of a price gap between E85 and 93, along with other benefits such as reduced temperatures and slightly increased performance, I’m thinking it wouldn’t be a bad option to have to have the ability to run either 93 or E85.
