P0410 relay not closing

(posting here because the R-class forum is quiet, and ML350 is very similar to R350)

Been trouble shooting P0410 and it’s down to the relay contacts not getting a signal to close. Initially swapped it with other (matching) relays from the box thinking I had a bad relay. I also pulled the relay and put a jumper on the sockets to run the pump manually, as a sanity check for the power circuit to the air pump.

As far as I can tell, the relay just isn’t getting a signal to close. Even pulled the relay cover off to measure directly and it just looks like the coil isn’t getting any power.

Is there another non-obvious fuse in this circuit? Or something else to look at?

Thanks!

A temperature sensor triggers this operation, which only occurs with cold start.

Are you suggesting a bad temp sensor somewhere? The relay isn’t getting a signal even after car sits all night.
