My driver's side mirror has an issue: when in the usual "out" position (extended for driving), it's not fixed in place, and I can easily swing it partway "in" (folded for parking) manually with no resistance, like this: play in mirror hinge
When I'm driving, wind will sometimes push it partway in, but it appears that the motor is working enough to then automatically push it back out (without me touching the fold in/out switch).
When I do try to fold the mirrors in or extend them, the passenger side works as expected, but the driver's side will partially fold in, then start to click (as though gears are turning but not catching fully), fold in a bit more, click some more, and so on until it is almost fully folded to the "in" position. When I push the button to extend the mirrors out again, the passenger side extends normally, but the driver's side extends a bit, clicks more, extends a bit and so on, but does not fully extend unless I pull it out with my hand.
There isn't any up/down play in the mirror - it's just swivelling freely on the hinge when it should be locked to the "out" position.
