dreaded front end noise 09' ML550

have 88K on the clock. Started getting a humming noise when making any left movement of the steering wheel, from a slight turn lane change to a left turn about the time i put the snow tires/rims on for winter. Thought maybe the right front tire as that is where i thought the noise was coming from, So i put the summer tires/rims (factory rims and Mich. tires) back on. Noise still there.... I have a full lift in my garage, i put the wife in the car and I raised it up to see if i could hear where the noise was coming from. It didn't like it (Neither the wife or the ML) LOL It was setting off warning lights and stopping and starting wheels, so i went with my instinct and just replaced the right front bearing. noise still there. I thought wheel bearing as it is fine going straight or right, just when making any type of left turn. The faster the more noise. rate of acceleration or deceleration has no effect on the noise, just turning. I bought a set of bearing and circlips as when i replaced the rears on my S55 i guessed wrong as which side was making noise I haven't replaced the left front one yet (hopefully this weekend) but my concern is all i've read on the front diff, front axles, transfer case making the noise that it isn't the wheel bearing. So my question... After i replace the left front wheel bearing and IF the noise is still there can i pull both front axles off and drive the car around the block without damaging something to see if the noise goes away without the strain of the front diff ? So if i CANNOT drive it without the axles out what next? pull the axles and check the CV joints as i read that some with sticking CV's made noises, then pull the front diff if needed? Remember it's not clicking just a humming noise, maybe light grinding like something is moving a bit and rubbing? I replaced all the fluids underneath it. the diff lubes looked great (i bought it one owner with 75K)_as well as the transfer case. All looked good and up to proper fill levels as i pulled the fill plugs out first.
Thanks in advance!!

Have you checked your brake calipers? If they're sticking, usually because not enough lube was applied to the pins, you might get a vibration or your disks might be worn past the limit? I'd look at that and all the suspension components first, if only to rule them out. I know with mine, there is some play in the brakes. When I reverse park and turn, the brake warning message comes up. Clearly shows some movement in the caliper/pads at times as there's plenty of meat on the pads.

Also, Im pretty sure the front diff bearing problem was sorted by 2009, or at least they said it was.

I put all new pads, rotors, brake hardware on at approx 84k. (Bout 4K ago). Gonna pull the drivers side spindle off today, replace the bearing, check the axle. See what that does 🤞

Well, I’m 2 for 2 picking the wrong side wheel bearings. All’s quiet again! But now the left marker light went out. I can’t even get my hand down there🤬🤬

Well thats paid off which is good. Ive never gotten away with just doing 'one side' in the rare occasion its happened. Tried that with airbags and 3 weeks later, you know the story...

Amen to that. Yeah. I planned on doing both sides as I never just do anything to just one. It funny but sad that two times in a row I was wrong about which side was making noise. Guess I can hear better front to back than side to side 🤷. Good luck on ur projects all!

Hey man. Looks like I have similar issue. Replaced right bearing and noise same. I probably put 8k on it since then and not getting worse. Mine has a bit of a humming noise when going straight and right, but when I go slightly left it goes away.
I have 2011 GL350
