*Help Needed* 2011 ML350 Bluetec oil leak, just did front main still leaking!
My wife’s 2011 ML350 with 80k miles just bought less than a year ago. Ran fine for 6 months or so. Started leaking pretty good. Did all the YouTube research. Looks like it’s coming from right behind harmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley. Bunch of oil all over, cleaned engine bay, topped off oil drove a few miles, parked and see oil pooling up on the top of the oil pan housing under the crankshaft pulley. My brother and I pulled the front end of the engine apart replaced decent looking front main seal, oil filter housing gasket, tensioner pulley and serpentine belt. Put it all back together and same leak! My wife needs this car to take the kids to school. Cannot afford a dealership shop! Anyone able to provide guidance? Is there a seal I missed in the “shaft” of the harmonic balancer? Seemed odd the metal shaft inserted into the front main seal. Could it be the timing chain front cover? Didn’t seem it would come off without lowering the oil pan housing. Not really experienced so not sure if it could be leaking from the bottom of the block where the oil pan mates up. I also changed the dip stick rubber grommet as it seemed warn. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Pictures in attachments.
To add I did consider the oil cooler seals but everything I read was that typically leaks down the back side of the engine. Also didn’t see fresh oil leaking down from the V of the engine.
The only way to track leak is to first thoroughly clean it down everywhere w/ brake cleaner so metal is shiny & dry then drive a mile or 2 and reinspect. It's dripping into serpentine belt & slinging everywhere from what pictures are showing so probably oil filter housing imo [did you change BOTH gaskets on yours? Yes there are 2 even though EPC only shows 1]
