My sunroof was getting stuck on one side, with occasional movement, then some clicking/grinding of the drive motor. I disassembled it and found the metal bolt jammed where it should slide freely in the plastic guide channel. The side of the channel showed significant wear, and at the edge of the wear area I found this crack. The other side has a crack starting in the same spot but it hasn't separated yet.
It seems like this plastic channel is plastic melt rived into place. Can it be replaced? Can the metal piece here be replaced? Or am I looking at needing a whole replacement sunroof assembly?
Possibly relevant is that one of the plastic slide feet is also missing, and a few other plastic guide components are cracked or have their extremities broken off. If I could replace the metal rails and everything attached to them, without also replacing the glass or the frame it all mounts to, that would be ideal.
This is probably the best video I've found on the sunroof. Short answer is yes things can be replaced, but it's not designed to be fixed, just the whole assembly replaced.
