2010 ML 350 won't start
I wanted similar controls as my E350 Coupe. I have not put 1200 miles on it and I have spent $3K on repairs (so far) Not good
As I stated it failed on the 3rd start up after the module replacement showing a red screen on the tranny module.
Then the batteries drained dead 3 hours after that and my indy sent a tow and I said keep it until it is right.
I never called. After 32 years I know he would LMK when he needed to LMK.
He spent weeks searching for the overload and finally determined it was the fuse box in the battery compartment.
He replaced both batteries, no charge, all his diagnostics NC and only asked I pay for the part so I rounded up to $150.00 and gave him a box of Hornady 125gr XTP 38SPCL SD.
Just like the dealer would have LMFAO
Now, I wait and see. Is that all? Is this ML done torturing me and my mechanic friend?
I hope my complete lack of confidence in this SUV can be reversed
This is the thing with all computer controlled cars that we just can not know when we test and drive a used vehicle. It checked every mechanical box but any 15 year old+++ car that seems great can have this kind of sudden failure yes even Toyotas which as now having far more problems than ever.
I will start this everyday and drive it 5-10 miles round trip no shutting it off except in my driveway.

After 8 days of driving and thinking, hoping it was OK I finally was believing it was and went to take it out to get gas and guess what?????????
It didn't start
Called my mech, he sent a tow truck, again, and easy find, it needed a new ignition. Of course it does
2 weeks later get a text, "You are GTG"
I call and ask how much money I needed to bring and he said just pay for the part.
Fact is there is no way to know or say if it was related maybe, maybe not but my mech put honor ahead of argument and put himself in my shoes
As I left I told his step son "I hope I don't see you for a year" to which he said "Then sell that car" I LOLed
It drives so nicely and mechanically is in great running order but alas.
I was thinking about how through all this I never got upset and wondered how that was but realized when you have a person you trust you know being upset is a waste of effort.
An honest mechanic is a rare thing
I paid 2 hours labor for the first repair of the module on the tranny along with the part. Since then I paid for the fuse box ($120.00) and the ignition ($780.00) and no labor charges. He also replaced both batteries at NC (Did a warranty claim)
Yes I have been going to Stan at Strictly foreign for 32 years but he has also done stuff like this for new customers. Doint the right thing is better in the long run and he lives by it
