2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class Spy Photos
Spy photos of the 2012 M-Class. It is still pretty heavily covered, but you get a bit of an idea.

Guys, this is NOT the production version or anything near. It is heavily camouflaged so aside from the basic shape, everything else will look very different including the front end.

Yeah most of the time these test mules have plastic panels taped on to them to throw off the over all design treatments. From the looks of this test mule, its a w164 that they have taped on some new panels on for testing purposes. It's going to be 2011 before we get a rough guess as to what the real version will look like. A direct injection engine would be welcomed into the MB fold as we the customers have been requesting one in the States for years now. Lets just hope they don't spend all the time trying to work out a diesel hybrid, hybrid what ever model, because lets face it, the people buying those models are few and far between, just focus on the bread and butter models.

Testing
I was on a flight a few weeks ago from Denver and there was a guy sitting next to me who had just been doing cold weather testing of the 2012 (I suppose) ML in Colorado. He was very excited about it though he couldn't say much else.
He was also pretty excited about the shape of the new R class coming out soon.

I have read on the interweb that MB is working on making the new ML lighter. I worry that the gvw will drop below 6,000 lbs thus not allow for accelerated depreciation - ala the MDX @ 5,995 lbs
Just something to keep in mind.
