I've got an opinion. I don't like them. Makes for an inelegant exit.

I noticed that small annoyance at the dealership that had an ML63 with running boards, the highly bolstered seats plus running boards made getting in & out somewhat awkward. There's probably a good way of doing it once you're used to it.

BTW: Your ZR1 is gorgeous. It's one of those cars you should NEVER sell.

thanks for the comp on the car..

Yes stay away from the rb with the contoured seat..no real easy egress/entry and that bolster will soon show it's wear as one must skid over it on exit..entry is easier.
Too bad MB didn't inculde an easy exit program with the seat as they did with the steering wheel like Cadillac and I hate to bring my Escalade into comparison here but there was many goodies on it that the Merc is missing...auto door lock on exit, auto speed sensitive audio volume, heated steering wheel, heated cooled cup holder (I know..coming '14)..tinted windshield, one touch memory seats, ..just a few nits as much better car in all ways buts they left off the finishing touches

I have 2 ML's a 2012 and a 2013. The 13 has a running board. BIG MISTAKE.... Too small for your feet and all it does is get your trousers dirty. Never again....

What about on a white ML? I think they look great on a dark/black car, but think they may detract from a white car(which we will be getting in the new year thanks to Arbonne!!!) the car will come with the AMG Sport Package as well.

My wife is a little vertically challenged, we do have a 21 month old daughter and will often be having older people in the ML as well. Can anyone post pics of white ML's with and without the running boards/side steps. I think the boards may be useful but am worried about the aesthetics on a white car.

Regards,

Hos.

I can't help with a non-running board white but here is my diamond white ML with running board. I would just as soon not have it but it came that way and I can live with it. Forgot to mention you need to click on the photos to enlarge.

Didn't have an option here either, but got my ML with the lights on the running board. I think it's kind of a neat look when it's out at night. I do agree though, I use them on the way in (sometimes), and almost never on the way out. I debated looks of them, but don't have enough of an opinion to have them removed. And as far as running boards go, I think they are some of the more attractive ones I've seen. But, each to their own. I wouldn't have bought the car for them, but won't remove them either.

What do you mean by lights on the running board?
