recommended tire pressure?
Hi, what's the recommended tire pressure? On my way home from the dealership with my new ML350, the tire pressure warning light's up, saying the current tire pressure is 38psi. But it didn't say the recommended tire pressure. Checked the label beside the door, it only says the tire pressure for full load, 45psi for front and 48 for rear. This sounds too high. Then found another label in gas filler cap, which says 32 psi for both front and rear. Wrote to MB and dealer, both got ignored. So where can I find the recommended tire pressure? Thanks a lot.

Yes, both the two labels only wrote 45/48 for full load, it didn't write anything for normal load, and it didn't emphasize 45/48 is for full load. So previously I thought it's for normal load (even though I was afraid it's too high), and inflate the tires to 45/48. The warning light did go out after that. Then I found it's too bumpy on the road and I am afraid of the high tire pressure. So I deflate it to 38. Lucky the warning light didn't come back anymore. I am surprised a luxury manufacturer as MB would miss the normal tire pressure information on the label. It did have another label inside the gas filler flap. But its user manual recommend people to look at the label beside the door. I am a little disappointed with MB, get even more disappointed when MB didn't reply my email.

Update:
Today I went through 4 new ML 350 and found that the all the set pressures in the TPC control unit's were at 48psi-50psi. I corrected this by re-programming the control unit's, setting the pressure to 37-38psi and then test driving them.

I usually go with the pressures in the fuel filler lid. That has worked fine for me for several MB's. And yes, reset the TPMS.

Fuel filler lid sticker is wrong. The tires for 2012 require tire pressure as designated on door pillar. I brought this to the attention of my dealer and they contacted MBUSA to confirm.

But if we stick to the tire pressure on the door pillar, the ride feels quite bumpy. Also, I noticed the max allowed tire pressure printed on the tire is around 53 psi. That concerned me if the code tire is inflated to 45/48 psi, thinking that pressure will increase after you run a while on highway.

B pillar: 32 F / 39 R
Filler cap: Partially loaded 32 F / 32 R; Fully-loaded 32 F / 39 R
Add ~4 lb for warm tires.
I would be willing to bet the correct values for the 2012 are virtually identical to these.

Thanks Greg, Always helpful.
Mine was delivered to me with about 35lbs when it was 70 degrees. A week or so later as the temp dropped outside the Tire pressure warning came on. Drove tot the dealer and they went by the B Pillar Post. So their prep dept. and Service Advisor are not on the same page. It's my guess that if I called MB and spoke to 2 different reps that they would not know which was correct.
Ya have to admit this a bit absurd due to the wide variation from the labels.
I think I'll check with the tire manufacturer , Continental.
I notice when they have the higher pressures the tires just about "Ping" going over some bumps.

On newer cars, the recommended pressure is most commonly listed on a sticker inside the driver’s door. If there’s no sticker on the door, you can usually find the specs in the owner’s manual. Most passenger cars will recommend 32 to 35 psi in the tires when they’re cold.

So I called MB headquaters myself since I was having doubts as to the credibility of "service advisor". Apparently, the B Pillar ratings are for Maximum Load (even though it is not clearly stated) and that it is perfectly safe to run the tires at the lower range as referenced on the fuel door.

Greg in my GLK, I went through this also - I have 2 labels in the door jams. I was thinking the OP was not clear in what he was looking at & his tone in the below quote he implies THREE labels & he was only looking @ the door jams.
