jweezy, yes, it's normal when windows are open, especially if only one front window or sunroof is open. I don't remember ever having it happen in any previous vehicle with all windows up, doors fully closed, and sunroof closed..

You have climate control on auto - with air con switch showing on ? Yes - air con stays on even in the dead of winter so that the cabin can equalize pressure and the air con removes humidity.

same issue

I have had my 350 for about two months and have the same high pitched issue when I hit about 50mph. It does get very irritating especially considering my 09'never had such a noise.

I will bring it up to the dealer and see what he says, did you ever get resolution on yours? I would hate to trade mine in already if there is a fix out there.

First post, just joined and had an '09. Too bad you never had a chance to interact with the 09 folks on this great site.

Mine still seems silent to both my wife and myself, but I was used to my Denali which was not the quietest thing on the highway.

My 2012 has 300 miles on it and I get a wind noise around 40. Seems to go away at higher speeds. Sounds like a window is slightly open and I get a resonating flutter noise. Have not been back to dealer yet. Also have a rattle on washboard roads in dash or behind glove box.

Just a guess but there is an AC vent in the glovebox perhaps its a factor? Doubt so but check

Odd to read about so many wind-noise or wind-buffeting issues with the new ML already....

Hey, thank you very much! I appreciate that.

The ML is an awesome car and by far the best ML to date, so congrats to you as well!

My wife's has been in three times for this issue. When it happens (notice it about once every couple of weeks) it's consistently at about 43 - 47 mph. No problem slower, not problem faster. Between this and the stalling issue I doubt we'll ever get another MB.

FWIW, MB admitted at the hearing that they have others with the same issue. Try this. Close the windows and doors while parked. Put the fan on high to bring in fresh air from the outside. Don't use the A/C. When you didi that to mine you can feel the pressure build in your ears while sitting in the parked car. Also you could hear and feel the air pushing out from the door handles and seals around the doors. Also the doors got much harder to open from the air pressure pushing on them.

The MB attorney insisted that the board inspect my vehicle. Unfortunately for him he was relying on mercedes claim that there was no problem. Once the board experienced the pressure and such it was an OJ moment.

I should thank MB for insisting on the inspection. THey won my case for me. :-)

Congrats on your win Katiesdad. I think Lemon Laws may vary by state - did MB give you a new vehicle or a refund?

My 2013 BLueTec should be here any day and reading about all the problems you had with your vehicle gives me chills. I remember reading about the bucking and hesitation you reported last year and now the air pressure issue.

All I can do is hope this has been corrected with the 2013 model and that they didn't create a new problem. And perhaps the big bucks we spent sending our son to law school may help if we do have issues.

Its my understanding that the 13 diesel is fine. Seems they figured out what was wrong and fixed it. My guess is that it is very expensive or extensive to do the repair after it leaves the factory. Many have had their cars purchased back by MB for just this issue. They would not repurchase mine so that is why I lemon lawed the vehicle.

Under FL law I could get a new car or a refund. My lawyer suggested VERY STRONGLY that I take the refund so that is what I did. I'm still waiting for them to let me know when to take it back and pick up my check. Until then I will just continue to drive it.

As for the air pressure problem. MB admitted that they have other vehicles with the issue. Their defense was that it is such a minor problem that its not a substantial defect. That theory was blown out the door once the board inspected the vehicle. I think MB lost all their credibility when the board realized that it was a MAJOR issue. They said that the bucking problem came down to a credibility issue and that I was more credible. If the board inspected the vehicle and found no issue with the air pressure problem then I believe that they would have sided with MB on the bucking issue.

Thanks for the info and I hope you're right. I've already had the pleasure on two previous occasions of dealing with manufacturers who deny there's a serious problem with their vehicles. I had a Lexus LX 470 with piston slap and a Porsche with a malfunctioning AC. Lexus agreed the car had piston slap but said it wouldn't harm the engine. Porsche claimed the AC was working as designed -but it took 2 years to get it repaired.

Those cars were leased so we knew we weren't stuck with them but we'll be purchasing the ML. I'll cross my fingers that they've corrected the problems with this model. Congrats again on winning the good fight.

They finally decided that the wind noise was coming from the passenger mirror. They took it for a test drive and when they folded the mirror in the noise disappeared. The placed a few strips of felt where the mirror folds and that solved the problem. The strips can't be seen and it's been quiet for over a year.

Just a FYI note for wind noise evaluation..using your garden hose and a bucket of very sudsy water...close off cabin tight and turn fan on full..dowse perimeters of doors/windows with soapy water and evaluate where the air escapes. If leaks are bad they will form bubbles..this may help in determining if window or door seals require adjustments..

Any luck?

Were you able to get rid of the wind noise?
I have a 2012 with the same buffeting wind noise.
Thanks!

The service MGR claims that he took out another ML and experienced the same noise. I was not there with him so I dont know firsthand if this was the case with the other vehicle or if they are just saying that so to cover
themselves and also make me feel like I am not the only one...

I have expressed to the dealer that I will in no way accept this vehicle in the current condition...I have given them until end of this week to give me an answer and solution.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same noise. Again, the noise seems to be coming from both front doors -- near outside side mirrors -- and sounds as if the windows are slightly open.

Thanks for the feedback!
