Running Board Lights

I was thinking of installing some LED lights for the running board that come on when the puddle lights are on. Does anyone know if there is wiring for this lights already under the vehicle? I really don't want to pay thru the nose for the MB lights installed by the dealer.

I understand that is a problem with gas models. I have the diesel and they work fine.

I did a search and found your question about the running board lights. I was thinking of running the led lights along the boards and I was wondering if you ended up doing it. I was thinking of something like this:

I don't want the amber lights and don't want them to blink with the turn signals. I was more of the notion that just plain white LED's when the door is open would be good.
