towing compared to GL?
I believe both have the same capacity but is there any other difference? hitch weight?
Haven't kept up to date on the world of SUV's but may get a new tow vehicle to tow my 911 track car. Wife has an 05 ML500 but with a weight capacity of 5,000 lbs I may be pushing it a bit.
So, considering ML blutec or GL blutec. I understand GL is due for an update, and the ML interior does look nice, which I would think GL will be similar.
Also reading up on this whole lighting delay. Am I to assume this effects diesel GL as well? hard to believe all the cars on the road with these lights, why the delay with MB?
being a porsche guy also have to look at cayenne.

2011 E350 Sport 4Matic - P2 & Drivers Assist / 2010 C300 Sport 4Matic - P2 / 2013 Porsche Cayenne S
The ML has a towing capacity of 7,200lbs while the GL is 7,300lbs.
The Cayenne (V6) is rated at 5,952lbs while the S and the Turbo (V8) are rated at 7,716lbs.
Also the Diesel Cayenne is coming to the US by summer of 2012.
As for the lights I believe this is because of last years Tsunami. My dealer was telling me that a lot of electronic parts were delayed and and are in high demand because Japan was unable to produce them. They are hoping everything will be back to normal by the end of Q1 this year hence that is when you will be able to get the lighting package on select models.

GL is 5500 lbs vs ML at 4700. GL will be considerably more stable with a heavier trailer, particularly in side winds. You really should try each though. I did this with our boat on a number of vehicles and the differences in towing manners were considerable.
