Does it automatically switch to night mode-dark background/white roads? If not, there should be a menu setting for auto day/night switching somewhere in the NAVI system menus. Otherwise, I'm clueless.
Ours switches going in and out of the garage.

same here, however sometimes in rural areas without streetlights even playing a cd the screen is too bright. instead of using a black screen i would rather dim it. any tips?

 

Ok. I didn't understand. We have the other SUV-GLK. Sorry, I haven't tried additional dimming.

If it is set on auto it will do it automatically. But it must be set on auto. Otherwise its blinding at night.

 

I should have mentioned the COMAND manual sooner. I checked the screen in the GLK with the lights on in the garage. The screen is connected to the dash dimmer. Sorta. It dimmed slightly but not as much as the dash gauges. Maybe yours will do the same.
