Anyone have detailed specs on the drivetrain? I wanted to know if we had the torsen in the center? and LSD in the front and rear? Not that I'll be offroading, but just curious.

ON&OFF Road Package
You need this (available 2013), a post you've seen before:
https://mbworld.org/forums/new-m-cla...iled-info.html
https://mbworld.org/forums/new-m-cla...romo-pics.html
Basic system is described thusly:
"For those who want to venture off surfaced roads, the ML 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC and ML 350 BlueEFFICIENCY 4MATIC models feature an extensive off-road specification as standard, which considerably enhances their capabilities when the going gets tough. Apart from 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive and the electronic traction control system 4ETS, this also includes an off-road button that activates a special off-road driving mode:
■To improve traction, the wheel slip thresholds and the shift points
of the 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission are raised
■A flatter accelerator response curve enables more sensitive throttle control
■Off-road ABS ensures optimum braking characteristics, especially on loose surfaces
Start-off Assist and the HOLD function furthermore come to the driver's assistance when performing a hill start, while Downhill Speed Regulation, or DSR, enables the M-Class to automatically maintain the speed set with the cruise control lever on descents."

Front, middle, and rear differentials are open. No fancy stuff. Torque split front to rear is 50/50. Mercedes relies on the traction control using the brakes to transfer torque.
It works OK, but anyone that has had these off-road will tell you that truck with a locking rear and locked center, as most full-size pickups and truck based SUV have, are much better off-road.
The off-road package that we will get changes the traction control slip and engagement points. Seems weak for an off-road package.
It would be nice to be able to get a low range transfer case and be able to lock the center and rear diffs.

I read that the USA would not get low range or locking diffs for the off-road package, just like we didn't get it on the last ML/GL. It would be great if I am wrong, but history shows we don't get the good stuff.
