GAS MILAGE

Looking forward to it.
As for heated, not the case. More about my bull**** sensor tingling when I read your post and as someone who drove a diesel ML for several years and used to work hard to maximize fuel economy I have some experience that casts a shadow of doubt on your 30 mpg claim.
I have no problem being proven wrong hence my offer.

So know your saying it's bull****? IF you have doubt that is fine - you want proof. I can respect that - calling it bull**** is kinda off the mark. Yet, that will make it even better when the photos are posted. Just to keep it clean - I will send the pic directly to you, because I am not going to do that to ya in public. If you chose to let everyone know I made it happen so be it. If not that's fine too. I think this can be handled in a mature fashion. With all parties being respected.
I went to see my grandmother in a nursing home - when I go down again I will keep you in mind.

have a bt and driven 300 miles on second fuel tank. i ve been driving pretty smooth to break it in (under 2000 rpm)and i am getting 24.5 miles to the gallon this tank(70% highway 30% city).I will never be able to bring it to 30 miles to the gallon. Will see if my wife can do better when she uses it more frequently but i don t think she will be able to taka it to 25-27 and she is not an agressive driver.we do drive with the flow of traffic.

truck only has about 600-700 miles on it. i did conversion from metric to miles.i have been driving very carefully i do not think these numbers will hold up over time, they will more than likely fall to perhaps 20s later on.milage may get better with more miles on it but i know our driveing will be more agressive. thus i do not expect to see better numbers, but with milage in the low 20s i am more than pleased.my f250 get about 10 miles to the gallon.(downhill) ha ha.

Your photo shows an average speed of 56, not 65 and there is a huge difference in economy at 65.
If you aren't too busy this afternoon, go and drive 120+ miles at 65 and THEN take a photo of your screen showing the mpg with average speed of 65. If you can average 30 or better, your next tank of fuel is on me, I'll paypal you the money.

2012 ML 350 BlueTec
Whats your point dude? Do you have a a bluetech and don't get good mileage? Is that the reason you have such a stinky attitude?

its all relative...
its nice to see FRIENDLY banter on the boards. Jweezy, I'm going to have to side with 2012ML here on this one. Sporadic measurements are never accurate. If you want to be more accurate, fill the tank and drive it normally, and do this several times for an average number. Do all city, all highway, combined, whatever.
You will no doubt see that the gas engine is a good engine, but nowhere near as efficient as the bluetec. I just completed a 1200 mile round trip with my truck, and there is no way in hell that i could have done it on just over a tank of gas. And that was with 5 people and lots of luggage - the truck was loaded. my hand calculated mpg was 30.
About the only way i would see that with gas is if i was towed down there one way and drove back...
The important thing is you love your car, and thats what matters. Use it well.
Regards
Oren

Lisa you obviously don't need a diesel ur not putting miles on fast enough. 1000mi would take me about 2 weeks. Seems not enough real steady highway. Perhaps idling too long? That kills economy. Is the engine always getting hot?(full operating temerature) May not be getting to higher gear range as well. Try paddles to force next gear if it will let you. Just a few ideas.

Keeping it friendly as mentioned, I have going on 9,000 (a lot of fillups)miles on my ML350. I have done every test possible, all city, I have not done a single tank that was 100% used by highway yet. We live in the D.C metro area and if you know anything about this place well...its busy.
To add - I have completed hand calculations (cell phone) in the past to see if I could rely on the system.
Also, if your siding with 2012 ML are you going to send me some money too?

I find that I tend to be less flatfooted if I am watching the fuel consumption.
I averaged 24.7 mpg on my 2nd tank in mixed driving (as per display, not calculated, and I reset after every fill). I did manage to get 30 mpg on one return trip of about 50 miles, almost all expressway.
Other relevant data: BT, now with 1100 miles on the odometer.

Try leaving the display on "current consumption" instead of "mph", if you are not already doing that.

My sister lives in Capitol hill... I'm not a betting man though, but I have 25 years of experience driving diesels, and am intimately familiar with the drivetrain. I expect that your numbers would be close, but overall the diesel should be more efficient. That's all. Who knows maybe you have a one off...
The diesel after driving it wasn't an option anymore, it was actually cheaper than my Steel Grey I have now.
I have not stated that the diesel isn't more efficient that the gas. I may contradict myself maybe by posting higher than expected mpg, however I am not arguing that the diesel could do better - for the extra 1,500 bucks - it should perform better.

It's all about what YOU need.
If all your doing is short trips and no highway, you will kill the diesel. Period. It needs to be driven to extract the max benefit from it.
Regarding the Cadillac, the fact that it is 72k should speak volumes. No wonder Mercedes can't keep up with demand.
