2013 ML-63 AMG- 2010 C350 4matic
Decided for 2013 ML-63 AMG

I finally decided for the ML-63 AMG Diamond White and Designo Porcelain Seats. I may shift to the Designo Brown Seats if I like them when I see them, before the order is frozen by the factory. Lot of the equipment on my order are already part of the Standard Equipment for ML-63 AMG in Canada. But with the present mess in producing the W166 I wanted the Dealer to know these are "Must Have" on the Car to prevent my cancellation. I estimated the final cost will be around $113k (same value is both US or CAN currency) before our well esteemed tax of 15.5% in Québec. I am still waiting for the long promised test drive by the Dealer for any W166. The only demos available are B-200. Asking a test drive from this Dealer is like tearing his heart out. This attitude stood the test of time since 20 years.
YYZ: you were instrumental in convincing me to move from ML-550 to ML-63 and I am satisfied with my decision. While I am very appreciative for your support I think again that you should get the commission on this one not my Dealer who did not see it coming.

Looks like an excellent build. Welcome to the club.

The porcelain seats are beautiful. I didn't think I would like them until I saw them. They will require more maintenance than black but I have found a wipe with leather cleaner cleans them easily.

When do you expect to receive it?

Looks very nice. About $25-30k more than my similarly equipped 550. I love the colour choice, diamond white is now my favourite colour of any car I have owned. The new engine in the 550 has so much power already I can only imagine the rush you will get in the AMG.

Congrats; which dealer are you buying from??

The porcelain is BEAUTIFUL. You will not regret it if you stick with it! Just be aware that jeans will turn it slightly blue over time (easy to clean off).

Turn them blue? Really? Humm.....perhaps I should change my MY13 order to the Black Desingo leather instead. I considered the brown, but after seeing it yesterday in an ML63 with the Brown Satin Ash wood trim, I found it had a slightly purple or red-ish tone to it that made it not match the Brown Satin Ash completely well (and I'm now sold on the Brown Satin Ash in spite of this). I also saw the porcelain yesterday with the Black Piano Lacquer, and porcelain is indeed beautiful. But I was already concerned about staining. Maybe black is the safest bet.

Jeans will leave a blue stain. However, a wipe with a leather cleaner and a microfiber towel cleans it easily. It will be more maintenance over time but it is beautiful. Black is definitely safer but porcelain seems a little more special.

I believe that the brown leather with the open-pore trim is too much brown. I agree that they don't match well in terms of tone.

Black leather with brown open-pore is a win, as is brown leather with the dark ash (black) wood trim. IMHO.

WCH BOS: Thanks for your note on Porcelain White which I have not seen yet. All my present cars have the Almond Beige Leather. I am used to such maintenance and I am well equipped for it.

Some of the options on the ML-550 are available under special order only. When I did the math for all the special orders and the premium for Porcelain White the price difference narrowed.

Then move to Canada or USA. But also the limousines of my last hotel in Hong Kong were Rolls Royce. You will not get that here.

YYZ: My Dealer is MB Laval. I stick with them because of their excellent maintenance service. This is where they excel. I also live 10 minutes away which is a plus. I know the owners and the senior managers, but this is no guaranty for a good sales experience. It is not their best quality. As you know, I am after the car and do not expect the Spa treatment.
Thanks for the info concerning the blue jeans. I will ware white jeans in the car.

WC BOS: Can you please guide me where I can get a pdf verison of the 2012 ML-63 Owner's Manual. I am familiar with the mbusa site for downloading MB manuals. There is no mention for AMG.
As for the delivery period, I do not know yet. I have not even received an confirmation, or a thank you note for my order after 36 hours. I know my SR has serious problems reading or sending emails. A courtesy phone call would do. But soon the poutine and donuts will be consumed, that's when the order will be sent to Toronto then probably someone will call. They are hyper active only during caviar and champagne charity parties. Bring your check book.

In the US, the owner manual is the same for all MLs - no ML63 specific manual. Includes all models. Try downloading from the US site.

YYZ: MB interactive manual mentions a 360 degrees camera (surround view). Do you know when and how this will be available and if the order code ready. I would not pass this one if I can.

I had the top view in my BMW X5. Although it did not have side view, I never found it useful as it was too difficult to really see anything. If it were a choice, I would pass on it.

The only options I wished I had are the cargo management system and a heated steering wheel. Since I didn't order my M63, I missed out on the cargo management system (which some have said is incompatible with the P2 package in the US anyways) and the heated steering wheel is not available on the ML63 in the US.

Certainly not deal breakers but would have been nice.

I've thought about it, but nah. I might send my kids to the US for education when they reach 18 so I can buy cheap cars hahaha

I tried for the Cargo Management System with P2, but it conflicts with the locking compartment lid (which is the floor of the cargo area). I guess that having two different lockable covers and 2 different non-lockable covers would be too much for M-B to handle The launch has been a mess as it is!!

I have the Cargo Management System on my W164 since 2006. My wife insists on leaving our dog in a big cage while traveling. There is nothing like the CMS to hold that cage firm under any circumstance. I would not buy another car without it.

YYZ Please help:

1) My Dealer says if I insist on the "Wood Leather Steering Wheel" for the ML-63 AMG, I will lose the paddle shifters. Is that true? About every other ML-63 promotional video is equipped with a Wood Leather Steering Wheel.

2) I visited two Dealers today and each one was troubled by the "Easy Pack Load Securing Kit". CODE 942. One says it comes standard on the ML-63 because the CODE is not available on his computer. The other says it is not available for ML-63.

The kit is not avalable with the locking rear compartment that is standard on the ML63. Same for other MLs with US P2 package, as I found out.

Greg: Easy-Pack Load Securing Kit is listed among the optional Equipment for the Canadian ML-63 AMG with a code # 942. I think the new designation "Easy Pack" which replaced "Cargo Management System" is confusing them. By the way the Cayenne has now a Cargo Management System very identical to the W164/166. Probably from the same shop.
I am sure YYZ will bring us the light on this issue.

YYZ: I will sincerely appreciate if you can also check the option for the "Surround Camera" which will be super useful while maneuvering around snow Banks or parking in tight spaces without any need to open the door.
Both Dealers told me their quotas of ML-63 AMG is two (2) units only for 2013. I intend to sign on Tuesday 4/24 to book the earliest delivery.
I saw today a 2013 ML-63 AMG Diamond White driven by the GM. It is stunning. It has the 3M protection film on part of the hood and bumper. They charge $400 and is guaranteed for life. I will order it as additional protection for that expensive paint.
