New Ml350 with a basic question??
I just took delivery of my new ML a couple days ago and absolutely love it! It's everything that everyone has talked about minus the flaws of buffeting at 45 and spontaneous stalling. My question is this: My "delivery specialist" at the dealer took me through the vehicle and talked for 30 minutes or so on everything that I should know about. When we opened the hood he mentioned that there wasn't any way to check the oil manually and pointed to the only dip stick we could see and he said that was for checking the transmission fluid. He said that the oil level was reported by the electronic monitoring system.
Anyway, I was just looking through the owner's manual and stumbled upon the section telling how to check the engine oil manually. Has there been a change or does my "delivery specialist" need to go back to school?

I do believe he got it back to front.
Yes it definitely has an engine dipstick which should be manually checked.
There is no transmission dipstick as the trans is a sealed unit.

Indeed, there is a dipstick to check the oil level. There is a section in the owners' manual on this. I suggest downloading it in PDF as you can easily do a search.

One other thing.. Since we have a 2010 E model, I asked him if you could also mute the voice when she is giving navigation directions. He said no, you could only do it by turning down the volume with the knob. I tried that first, and even though I didn't hear the voice, I had the interruption of the music/radio. I then tried the mute while the voice was talking and it worked just like the E.

However, what I have not read yet is how to turn the radio itself off. Every time I turn on the car the Sirius satellite radio starts playing. If I want only navigator I have to listen to the route instructions between the music. If I mute the radio sound, the navigator is muted as well. I know there has to be a way to turn off the radio completely but I have not found it in the book yet (that is my project for today!!). You would think there would be an on/off button just for the radio but I don't see it.
