Diesel hesitation/bucking AFTER software update
Was wondering if anyone still had the hesitation/bucking problem. I had my software update early on and it was fine for a while. Over the last months it has returned. Seems to be getting worse.
Also, the engine sounds totally different for the first second or so when accelerating for the first time. Then it goes back to the normal, quiet engine.

Used to be that you needed to run diesels hard periodically. I believe the added heat and cylinder pressures of a load helped keep them cleaner. I don't know whether this is still the case or not with computer controlled, and high pressure injection. But, the problem you describe above certainly sounds as if it could be this. Or of course a real problem.
I know that diesels sound louder until they are warmed up and when they under heavy load, such as towing or up long hills. Louder on warm-up is particularly true in cold weather. I also notice a different sound when they switch from summer to winter blend fuels.

AZ you are right that the older diesels used to glaze the bores if laboured at low speeds. But that was with hi sulphur fuels which combined with the soot from the precombustion chambers.
These factors are unrelated to our new technology fuels and engines.

Yup,still happens just as before.Very disappointing indeed. But,as before,it goes away after a minute or two.Perhaps I'll just have to live with it.

For me it happens after the car sat overnight. It doesn't matter if I let it warm up for a minute or so it still happens for the first minute or so. At least till I get out of my neighborhood. Seems it is more noticeable at low steady speed. Like the car is jerking back and forth. I drive slow down the street and thats when it is very noticeable. But I don't feel that I should have to live with it. Not for $60k anyway.

The software was updated earlier today. I was getting some hesitation/bucking for the first 500 meters of driving. It was fine after that. Will update the board with some feedback.
