Name? For a car? For an ML?
Some people I've known have always given their cars a name. Old Fred, Martha, or whatever. I personally haven't done that. However, I have named the lady who issues orders to me through the GPS navigation system. It really isn't that clever, but I thought I'd mention it. Her name is Emily. Maybe I'll start referring to the car as Emily.

My Judi has to name cars and critters. We have many, many deer go by all the time and she has a name for her favorites such as "Bessie", "Moose", "Mini-Moose", "Big Buck", "TriPod" (an injured buck who runs on three legs), etc. She also has names for the rabbits, foxes and every thing else out here.
She named the ML350 "Diamond Jim" because it is in Diamond White color and glistens in the sun like a diamond. She also named the Command navigator girl, "Lill" (Diamond Jim Brady's girl was the famous actress, Lillian Russell). So as you can see my friend, I am very much familiar with your kind of insanity!!!

Reminds me of a hunting trip I went on in south Alabama when I was a kid. The local hunters down there had a buck they were after, his name was Big Floppy....

BTW, on my aftermarket NAV system I am able to pick several different voices (males and females). Are you stuck with the female voice on the ML?

I'm think my wife will follow suit with blacksl's wife, and call hers "mine".
The dogs (4 total, 3 who are active in numerous activities), are all excited in anticipation of Mom's new ride coming home tomorrow.
I think an appropriate name would be Canine Carrier
