ECO Start/Stop on MY2013?

Can anyone confirm whether ECO Start/Stop is available on the MY2013 BlueTEC in Canada or US?

I will soon find out. They have just received mine in Montreal. Loaded with lighting, sport package, black with tobacco leather etc etc. I ticked every box on their list.

When was ur Build date?
I'm told(saw email) BT are held for Mods and Engine Certification but one hit my dealer in St Catharines but it had no info as to mileage or engine spec. All zeros. UK site says 258hp and mileage increase

I'm picking up my 2013 BT next Thursday

There is one in the showroom at midtown. Stumbled across it yesterday picking up my e63. Bought it last nite. Get it next Thursday.

My feeling is that there is next to zero chance of seeing ECO start/stop in the ML arriving now.

First, it is hard to imagine that they would not mention this in the model year preview if it is indeed included.

Second, as with most other features/functions, they would not automagically appear in the build unless it is explicitly listed out in the equipment list.
ECO Start/Stop has its own build code - for example, in the GLK, it is "Auto Stop Start Function, (S-B03)". So if you don't see this item on the list, it won't be there.

They could introduce it in mid-model year, as this function is explained on the M-Class 2013 owner's manual; but they included the 360 surround camera too. But for current build that you can order now, this function is not there.

Eco Start/Stop is described on the MB Canadian web site. It was not there for the MY2012

That's the problem when they try to modify the Germain Mercedes web site for it to be used in Canada (notice that all the cars in the flash video has German license plate):

http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/...s.flash.html#6

So ECO start/stop was highlighted in that video. But when it links to the environment technologies used in M-Class, the ECO start/stop was missing from the Canada's page:
http://www.mercedes-benz.ca/content/...vironment.html

While it is there in the German page:
http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/...vironment.html

As I said, it probably will be introduced at some time, as it is in the owner's manual; just that it is not likely to be included in the cars being built right now.

I actually sat in mine yesterday...

And I asked if it had it, and I got I dont know or no for an answer. In reading the PDF manual, it says there is a switch on the dash marked Eco which turns it on or off. I never paid attention. I get it on Thursday evening. Can't wait.

2013 BT 350 with MPP, light pkg, passive driver assist, leather, vent seats, rear seat DVD, sport pkg. with *** running boards.

Ordered a 2013 in May 2012, delivery postponed until dec 2012. Order cancelled mid aug 2012. Stumbled upon my new 2013 sitting in the dealership end of aug 2012. Bought it immediately.

That's my $.02...

Yup. A total fluke.

I was in to pck up my e63 from service. Had to go to the little boys room and walked right past it. I was confused at first as the price sheet said it was a demo with 500km on it and I was told none would be released for sale until the end of sept as there was an emissions issue which required someone to come and reprogram or update all bluetecs before they can be released. Sounds like a load of horse pucky to me...

Nope they certify every year and there seems to have been a change this year that got out unanounced or is getting changed back. Uk site says 258HP ours did for about a week. But till certified they can't say. Maybe we got programed for 258 and they are changing back or they are changing to 258 if it certifies. Its obvious stop start will improve city mileage but old ratings still there now. One in St Catharines has no ratings on sticker. The one sticker still on it does not even have the year. But it has perferated MBtex

It was in the showroom because it was waiting for the software update before it could be put on the road as a demo.

Saw my car at the dealership yesterday. MY13 Bluetec NO ECO START/STOP. Apparently only the gas engine is getting this feature. SA told me that he drives one as demo and he does not like it. Left turns at traffic lights is downright dangerous from a stand still if you need to accelerate fast. He prefers to turn it off when he starts the engine.

I should take delivery of my car on Monday. I waited for over 1 year to get exactly what I wanted and they delivered!

And you can always turn it off if you don't like it.
So I see no downside of having it.

Surprised and disappointed that it is not available on the BlueTec. Same thing as the On/Off Road package...

My Prius has no problem starting. Matter of fact it starts in less than 1/2 second. Plus the electric motor gives you instant acceleration. But back on topic. Does the A/C run with the engine off? Here in Florida you hardly ever shout off the A/C.

Yesterday I experienced more than 25 Eco Start/Stop under our hot weather. I noticed the air circulation stays on while the AC is shut off. None of the stops lasted more than 2 minutes. For longer stops under hot temperature you will need to switch off the Eco Start/Stop System.

That's what I figured. The Honda hybrid does the same thing. The only way to get cold air is to keep the engine running which defeats the benefit of shutting off the engine. When you are stopped and the engine is running you are technically getting 0 miles to the gallon.

Our A1 has the stop/start, and when stopped, the AC fan continues to blow. When the temp rises, the motor automatically restarts and the AC cools it again. This system is not quite right as the motor will not stop again until you drive forward at least a few metres.

The Australian 350BT definitely comes with Stop /Start. I am anxious to get mine next month, so perhaps I will then report on its function.

New ECO Start/Stop variation

After hitting the brake while parking the Eco Start/Stop kicked in and Shut off the engine. I put the transmission in Parking position to check something. In about 3 minutes, the engine started automatically while the transmission is still in P. Luckily I did not leave the car. That means to prevent any auto re start the key must be turned to position 1 or 0.
