Hi all,

I just got delivery of 2013 ML63. It is such a great truck.

I have an questions. While I drive over little bump, I feel knock from steering wheel. The amplitude is small and I barely hear the knock but I can feel it through my hands. I went to dealer to check and shop foreman says it is due to electric steering. I thought it is more to stabilizer link or steering rack. Does anyone have simlilar issue? I am thinking bring the truck to other dealer which is about 50 miles away where I used to live 5 years ago.

That can't be right. I don't have the 63, but they all use electically assisted steering. Something is loose or such. Not acceptable to have a knock.

I have been enjoying a 2013 ML-63 AMG since last August. Perfect steering. No knocks. In the last few days, an ice storm left us icy streets covered with ice rocks and deep poth holes. No knocks despite our bad streets. Just precise and elegant steering.

Just got mine Friday before Christmas. 2013 ML63 with Performance Pack . Have put 300 hard miles on it now. No knocks or bumps. Motor and turbo noise at startup is a little excessive but Im going to let it get worse before I complain.

Congratulations for your Christmas Gift. Santa was generous this year. The engine roar at startup can be a joy with its delicate note. But also it can be an embarrassement sometimes. Impossible to start discretely inside an indoor garage. It really screams for attention when not needed.

I have a similar knock when going over bumps with the wheels turned. I also get the same effect when going over speed bumps too quickly. I have Airmatic which the 63 also has so it could be normal. I noticed, however, that putting the suspension in Sport mode eliminates the knock completely. My shop foreman has also said this was normal.

I tried AMG Sport mode and it helps the issue. AMG sport+mode completly removes the issue. So I think it is design error that some part have more room to move when in comfort mode, and it makes this knock, while that part is compressed when in sport mode and have no or less room to move and the knock disappears. I think dealer shop foreman will not know how to address this issue and they will say it is normal. Same thing happened with my w221 s class with engine vibration when idling. Tech from germany fixed it at once and I have no vibration 6 years after the fix. I guess I will have to arrange the appointment with german tech or at least tech from MBUSA.
