In the garage for the 5th time in 2 months.

collision prevent system out - take it in to the garage, nothing wrong

blind spot assist - becomes disabled as many times as it works

auto tail gate won't close and have replaced the pinch seal twice

rubber around the rear window decides to come loose

This piece of crap isn't worth anything near the price they charge for them.

I had a 2003 ML that I drove for 10 years and never had a single issue

I bought a 2012 C 350 and only had a couple of minor issues.

Anyone exprience any of these problems

Usually you don't hear much from people unless there are issues. I think for the most part people on this board love their vehicles. It is an enthusiast board.

Document your issues and hopefully MD can get you fixed up.

I had issues with the radar cruise control, which uses the same system as the accident avoidance. I finally had them buy it back under the lemon law. But it was for other issues also.

Sorry for your problems, but mine has not had a single issue in 6 months of ownership (other than my wife denting it!). When it rains, it pours for some. In general though, I shy away from some of the whiz-bang electronics - those are the systems that are most prone to problems.

I had the tailgate problem on our 2012 ml. For solution call long beach MBZ in SoCal. It took. Couple of visits to diagnose

Sorry I can't help you on the issues you're having but my advice would be to document everything and open a case with MBUSA. Also let the GM of the dealership know you're not happy.

My 2011 ML was bought back after many problems and I was put into a 2012. Even though I've only had it for 1-1/2 months it is much more solid and quieter than the 164 ever was. I started having problems with the 164 the day after it was picked up..That ML was a nightmare..

Good Luck, let us know how it goes.

Seven months and 7000 miles on my '12 BTC with no issues at all. I have the active systems and distronic plus. They work great. Knock on wood!

ok....MB took really good care and made everything right.

Kept it for a couple of days and gave me a GL to drive until they went through it with a fine tooth comb

It has been 6 weeks now and not a single issue has re-surfaced.

Drove across state and I now feel this is a nice vehicle.

Good to hear. Glad that M-B stood behind the brand. I have no doubt your documentation and measured approach helped the situation.

Enjoy the ML!

I think that your dealer has as much to do with it as MB does. My dealer, IMO, just couldn't figure it out. MB USA kept telling me that they would make it right. MB put all their eggs in the dealers basket. At the hearing it was apparent that my dealer was either incompetent or outright lying to MB about their findings. Once my vehicle was inspected by the board it was apparent who was credible and who was not.

I say kodus to your dealer for doing the right thing.

My current ML550 (two months old -no issues) is my second MB. First was a 2008 C350 (which I loved after I got over MB "sneeze-resistant" transmissions - acceptance not approval). By this time on the C350 they had replaced the ignition (decided to ignore input) and the mirror motors twice (tremendous squeaking) and trunk latch once (campaign). After that the C went 50K miles with just 13k mile services and no other issues. So many variables these days makes the probability of failure difficult to manage. Dealer 'should' step in to make this as painless as possible...customers 'should' demand/expect this and be offended otherwise. I agree that most people don't report good behavior on these forums. Those people are too happy driving to keep posting. I am one of them... so far.

My only issues were: Tires not balanced well and a creaking sound from the rear when going over speed bumps. Dealer rebalanced tires and replaced both rear strut assemblies at n/c (campaign).

old thread but I thought I'd pitch in. I've had numerous problems on our 2013
1. Mbrace wouldn't work. Needed a software update.
2. Tailgate wouldn't close properly. First time they couldnt reproduce it. Second time they said it needed a "software update" Third time it failed completely and needed a new strut.
3. Coolant sensor stopped working and this resulted in a dash light.
4. Seat belt would not retract completely resulting my child not being secured.
5. Car wouldn't start. MB said it was a defective EIS.

In 13 months of ownership, the car has been in the shop for 35 days. I'm not impressed!

I'm glad to hear that everything is OK now...your o.p. was kind of scary, I'd like to believe that MB is not manufacturing lemons.

My 2013 ML 350 Bluetec has no issues so far, after 3+ months and almost 2,000 miles.

The only (potential) problem I've noticed that when I go over a speed bump or I exit a parking and I go over that deep before you hit the street I hear a little noise somewhere in the rear right side of the car. I've checked: nothing loose in the trunk, apparently nothing loose under the car...maybe I should go to the dealer to have it checked, but I'm afraid that once there nothing will happen and they'll think that I'm crazy.

My wifes's 2013 ML is in the shop for tha last 10 days, it has the infamous noise at start up, belt tensioner and oil return valve need to be replaced.
Horrible creaks from driver side door.
Loud rattle from tail gate.
Ambient lights from the back doors dont lit.
At only 2000km, steering wheel shakes while braking, warped rotors. what??!!

What a POS, I want her old Lexus SUV back!!

thanks. tailgate finally fixed after the strut finally gave out. i've got a funny noise at start up too, although mine is a little more subtle. build quality seems to be terrible, at least in my car. service advisors are not very helpful either, as noted by others, they only seem to diagnose based on thrown codes.

bummer, yet another issue.
the car has developed a rattle on start up. It's already been in the shop 35 days in the first 13 months. Clearly mine's a lemon. Although the car is nice when it's running, the build quality has been disappointing. Gonna try to convince my wife to get a Cayenne Diesel....
