Trying to purchse new ML in Chicago
Hi, I'm trying to negotiate a new ML with my local dealership. The vehicle MSRP is 61,545. I just want to know what others think on what a great price would be to get the vehicle. The dealer has gone down to 58,897, but is not willing to go down further.

That's only 4.3% off msrp. They could do alot better. I am located in southern CA. I just got mine 10% off of msrp. I purchased the 7/75K extended warranty from them for $2000 (msrp was $2890). From my experience, deal with them now but do not buy yet (unless their offer is very competitive). Wait till the end of the month and they will be calling you.

Shop around. I got my best deal on my last 2 MB purchases by comparison shopping. Both from the same dealer in the northern part of the area.

Nine percent is a pretty typical normal discount for me in my area. A dealer I've not done business with since 2003 offered me a 10% off deal, but the vehicles they have or could get are not equipped close enough to what I want.
I think seven percent seven percent would be a good minimum discount, knowing nothing of your buying/credit history.
